Kayleigh McEnany and members of White House press corps test positive

CNBC:

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Monday that she has tested positive for the coronavirus, a diagnosis that comes as President Donald Trump remains hospitalized with the virus.

“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,”  McEnany said in a statement that she posted on Twitter.

“No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit.”

Despite press members not being listed as close contacts, there are at least three of them who have coronavirus as well:

A day after Republican President Donald Trump announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, three journalists who work at the White House have also tested positive. In response, news outlets have begun testing and isolating journalists who may have been exposed.

One of the journalists was at the White House as recently as last Saturday and had traveled on Air Force One to Pennsylvania since then.

According to a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, memos issued Friday by the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) revealed that three unnamed journalists had contracted coronavirus.

I thought journos would be safe. After all, they’re the ones making the biggest deal out of mask wearing, following protocols, and lecturing those whom they perceive to be falling short of their standards.
